Decorated with polychrome flowers and palmettes in the colours turquoise, purple, green and orange, the bronze mounts in the style of Barbedienne with elephant heads and an imitation bamboo base, signed to the underside by the painter decorator "C.Dubois" and marked for the manufacture "Montereau / L.M. & C." for Lebeuf, Milliet et Cie.

Size: 33cm high, 19cm diameter

It is interesting that this vase can be dated to 1840 as we know that this is when the merger of Manufactures of Montereau and Creil happened. This vase is still only marked  Montereau (and not Montereau-Creil which would indicate a date after 1840).  It is also known that Louis Lebeuf (1792-1854) went into partnership with Milliet (marks « Lebeuf Milliet and Co. » from 1840 to 1874, followed by  the marks « Lebeuf and Co. » from 1875 to 1876). This would indicate a precise date of 1840 for this vase.
