Attributed to Barberi, Italian mid-19th century micromosaic and marble table top

The central micromosaic panel depicting a mother hen and her chicks within a grassy landscape with rocks and plants in the foreground, within a malachite border and brocatelle marble outer border, the black marble top set into a wooden surround.

The subject is after a painting by Johann Wenzel Peter (1745-1829) now in the Vatican Museums. See Jeanette Hanisee Gabriel "Micromosaics, Private Collections", No. 101 and 102, pages 140 and 141 for similar subjects of Hen and Chicks attributed to G. Barberi on plaques.
